Halloween was extremely popular during the beginning of the 20th century. In those days Halloween was celebrated more by adults than by children. Fortune telling was making a huge comeback and people were fascinated with the supernatural in general.
Halloween postcards became hugely popular during this time and it became common to use them as invitations to highly popular Halloween parties. Most of these postcards were printed between 1905 & 1915 in Germany, England and America. Some of the inks used on these postcards are toxic because of their heavy metal content, but this also caused the colors to remain bright to this day.
Some of the best Halloween postcard artists and publishers of the time were E.C. Banks, Bernardt Wall, Tuck, & Clapsaddle.
